True Backcountry Lodges

In the heart of the Canadian Rockies, isolated backcountry lodges offer an element of luxury in the midst of a peaceful wilderness.

Shadow Lake Lodge
Those who hike or bike the 14.3 km (9 mi) trail to Shadow Lake Lodge in Banff’s backcountry are rewarded with spectacular mountain scenery, great hiking trails and lakeshore fishing. Lodge luxuries include home cooked meals with wine or beer, hot showers and flush toilets.

Sundance Lodge
Resting near the shore of Brewster Creek with the Sundance Mountain Range as a backdrop, Sundance Lodge has plenty of rustic appeal for those that make the 16 km (10 mi) hike from the town of Banff. There are 10 sleeping rooms, a large kitchen, a cozy living room, hot showers and tasty home cooked meals.

Skoki Lodge
An 11 km (7 mi) trail leads from Lake Louise to the beautiful and secluded Skoki Valley and the famous Skoki Lodge. From the lodge, guests can explore five different adjoining valleys. There is no electricity or running water, but there are comfortable beds and gourmet meals fit for royalty. In fact, HRH Prince William and his wife, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge honeymooned here. The trails and the scenery are also five star.

Two Lodges in Tonquin Valley
The beautiful Tonquin Valley in Jasper National Park lies 23 km (14 mi) from the nearest road. In the valley, are two excellent lodges: the Tonquin Valley Backcountry Lodge and the Tonquin Amethyst Lake Lodge.  Guests can hike or ride horseback to these lodges and enjoy comfortable accommodation and delicious meals.
