What would make this holiday season more magical? At West Edmonton Mall, we think it’s snow. And, since Mother Nature isn’t delivering, we’re taking charge!
It’s snowing in West Edmonton Mall daily. Every hour on the hour in Phase III, by the dancing fountains, snowflakes fall much to the delight of our guests.
That excitement will only grow this weekend when our guests will actively trigger the snowfalls. West Edmonton Mall guests will have the power to make it snow by tweeting #Twizzard and, in essence, creating a tweet-activated blizzard.
“We want to create some holiday magic while engaging our guests,” said West Edmonton Mall Vice President of Marketing Anna Alfonso. “So many of our guests are connected digitally and we thought this would be a unique way to blend both the digital and retail experiences. We look forward to the conversations and seeing just how many flurries our guests generate.”
Guests will be able to make it snow: Friday, between 3 and 8 p.m.; Saturday, between 4 and 9 p.m.; and Sunday, from 3 to 7 p.m. One hundred tweets with #Twizzard will be enough to make the fluffy flakes fall. Guests inside the Mall will be able to track the snowfalls, as a barometer by the Phase III fountains will keep tally of the Twizzard hashtag.
The snow, which comes from snow machines, is not real snow but dry, evaporating flakes, like those used in theatrical productions. It does not accumulate on the ground.
