SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts is proud to announce that it plans to construct a new hotel and SilverBirch Conference Centre in Calgary’s Beltline neighbourhood. The 360-room Residence Inn by Marriott will be built on the former site of the Alberta Boot Company at the corner of 10th Avenue and 5th Street SW.
SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts and Marriott International Inc. executives revealed the project plans and partnership today followed by a tour of the site of the future hotel. The announcement to build one of the largest Residence Inn’s in the world underscores the company’s strong commitment to the region.
The planned Residence Inn will cater to business travellers looking for a long-stay hotel close to Calgary’s downtown. As an all-suite hotel, rooms will feature full kitchens and separate living and sleeping areas. Access to in-hotel business services and a 24/7 self-serve food and beverage pantry will allow travellers to feel right at home. The hotel strives to provide connectivity to the home and office, health and fitness options and comfortable public areas including a terrace lounge and roof deck for relaxation and socializing.
“Calgary has quickly been moving towards being Canada’s most important business centre,” said Steve Giblin, President and CEO of SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts. “Residence Inn by Marriott brings the best possible long-stay experience for business travellers to Calgary, by connecting them to their home and office and helping guests balance work and relaxation while traveling.”
The hotel will also feature a 10,000 sq. foot SilverBirch Conference Centre. A signature concept of SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts, the new conference centre will offer a number of all-inclusive meeting packages with unlimited and all-day access to Connections Café® which will serve an incredible selection of healthy treats and homemade indulgences. The conference facilities will be distraction-free, ergonomically designed and will offer the latest in built-in technology, such as high-definition event video conferencing.
“We’re very excited to construct a new hotel and SilverBirch Conference Centre in Calgary’s burgeoning Beltline neighbourhood,” explained Giblin. “One of our focuses as a company is providing business travellers with extended stay hotels that satisfy all their business needs, but also give them a sense of being at home. The Beltline is the best location for us to be able to meet these needs.”
SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts expects to begin construction on the Residence Inn by Marriott in 2014. The hotel is scheduled to open in 2016.
