Relais & Chateaux announces its newest Canadian property to become a member of the world's finest hotel fellowship

by Kensignton Riverside Inn

The world’s most prestigious fellowship of luxury hotels and restaurants has officially announced its newest member from Canada: Kensington Riverside Inn, located in Calgary, Alberta, will join 500 of the world’s top hospitality properties as a member of Relais & Châteaux. Kensington Riverside Inn is one of only two acting members in Alberta to receive this esteemed honour - it joins the Post Hotel & Spa in Lake Louise, Alberta.

Built in 1999, Kensington Riverside Inn opened as an upscale bed and breakfast near the banks of the Bow River. In August of 2007, the Hotel Arts Group acquired the Inn and began renovations to build a new restaurant, Chef’s Table, as well as to contemporize the property without compromising any of its original charms.

Kensington Riverside Inn was selected to become a member of Relais & Châteaux based on rigorous standard of excellence requirements that conform to a 4-5 star equivalent. All candidates must be small independent hotels and meet the criteria or the Relais & Châteaux Quality Charter or the 5 C’s: charm, character, calm, courtesy and

cuisine - five standards of quality that Kensington Riverside Inn was able to exceed with excellence and honour.

At this time, there are thirteen (13) Relais & Châteaux properties in Canada, with six located throughout Western Canada (Post Hotel & Spa, AB; Wickaninnish Inn, BC; Hastings House, BC; Sonora Resort, BC; Wedgewood Hotel, BC). The addition of Kensington Riverside Inn provides a new urban stop on the Western Canadian “Route

de Bonheur” (road to happiness) linking Relais & Châteaux properties from Calgary to the West Coast with a curated itinerary of sumptuous dining, exemplary service and upscale accommodations.
