On June 14th, 2014, hundreds of fitness buffs, runners and athletes will ascend and descend coulees, crawl through mud pits and be challenged by 8’ walls at the Mudd, Sweat and Tear’s Cochrane 8km obstacle course race hosted at the Cochrane Agricultural Society Grounds. This will be Mudd, Sweat & Tears first obstacle course race in Alberta and represents one of six races to be held across Canada in 2014.

From the rolling foothills to the spectacular views of the Canadian Rockies, Cochrane lies 20 minutes from the city limits of Calgary, Alberta and less than a leisurely 1 hour drive from Banff in the heart of cowboy country.  The city’s welcoming atmosphere and down to earth vibe, coupled with its’ unique natural setting and proximity to one of Western Canada’s largest urban markets make it an ideal location for outdoor events.

“Known for cattle ranches, coulees and views of the Canadian Rockies, Cochrane is really one of the best settings possible for an obstacle course race in southern Alberta,” says John Reed, Partnerships and Business Development, at Mudd, Sweat & Tears. “We’re super excited to be working with the great team at Cochrane Tourism and the Agricultural Society, and are looking forward to delivering a very challenging and unique race experience.”

Founded by Canada’s own Adventure Architects, a professional sports marketing and event management company the one day, spectator friendly event, challenges participants’ stamina, mental fitness and strength, with a number of  adrenaline-fuelled obstacles including: ropes, climbing walls, steep ascents and ice baths, and naturally all things mud!.

Extreme obstacle course racing is one of the latest and fiercest fitness trends to move everyone from adrenaline aficionados to routine health buffs.
