This summer, experience a taste of the golden age of luxury aboard the River Forth Dining Car
at Heritage Park Historical Village. This unique luxury dining experience on the rails is offered every Tuesday from May 24th
until August 30th
Whether you’re looking for a private business lunch to entertain a client or a luxurious afternoon meal with friends, a Heritage Park River Forth Dining Car
lunch will be a memorable experience. The 1929 dining car seats 36, and is now taking reservations for pre-booked Tuesday lunches, and private evening functions. Imagine dining on an exquisite meal inspired by history while on a moving vintage dining car. While you dine, you’ll travel past farm land, an antique midway, historical streetscapes and a stunning view of the Glenmore reservoir and Rocky Mountains.
The Tuesday lunches feature a historically-inspired three-course menu with wine, and a choice of entrée; either pan seared B.C Steelhead Trout with potato rosti and charred summer vegetable ragout or filet mignon Lyonnaise with sweet pea puree, potato pave, buttered patty pan squash and spring carrots. The lunches are $129.90 plus GST for a table of two, or $259.80 plus GST for a table of four and can be booked by calling 403-268-8500. Lunches do not include park admission; however, a discounted admission is available for non-annual pass holders. Evening bookings can be made through Heritage Park’s Catering and Sales department at email@example.com
In 2011 Heritage Park acquired a rusty old rail car from Canadian Pacific Railway for one dollar. The car, built in 1929 began as a luxurious Solarium, but over the years had been continually downgraded, eventually to become a work car, before being left to rust at a train yard. Upon receiving the car, Heritage Park staff began work on returning the River Forth
to its luxurious beginnings, not as a Solarium, but this time as a high-end 1920s dining car. Heritage Park staff and a crew of contractors worked for two years, reimagining the splendor of a 1920s luxury dining car; from period appropriate light fixtures, an exact replica of the original wood paneling to the richly patterned wool rug on the floor.
