Cowboys and horse trailers on the weekends can mean only one thing: it’s rodeo time in Alberta.
The down-home intimacy of a rural rodeo in Alberta makes one feel like they are part of the wild west action that brings rodeo fans and contestants together year after year. Rural rodeos are where champions are born and bred – both the two-legged and four-legged variety. And Alberta’s small town rodeos bring big time thrills. It’s impossible for people to stay in their seats when the close up action takes hold. When the dust settles it’s time for some serious cowboy chow and some serious dancing. Most rodeos are part of a larger hometown fair with food, events and dances.
There are more than 100 pro rodeos and other rodeos around the province, large and small, where everyone fits right in. The rodeo season in Alberta is a packed one - starting with the Camrose Spring Classic Pro Rodeo, March 15 – 17.
