Go 'Wild' at New Exhibition Coming to TELUS World of Science - Edmonton

February 03, 2014
by TELUS World of Science - Edmonton

Learn about the challenging, vulnerable and spectacular world of animal rescues, when the special feature exhibition Wildlife Rescue arrives at TELUS World of Science – Edmonton, May 17 through to September 1, 2014.

Wildlife populations around the world are under enormous stress due to pollution, deforestation and habitat encroachment, with species becoming endangered and some on the brink of extinction. Wildlife Rescue is 600 m2 traveling exhibit developed and produced by Science North, Ontario, Canada that draws you into exotic and familiar environments alike.

Wildlife Rescue explores the rehabilitation of different species that share Earth with us, and how we, as individuals, can make a difference!

In this exhibit, visitors will be immersed in compelling stories of animal rescue from around the world, including how seabirds are saved from environmental disasters and what happens to orphaned baby elephants. Through interactive exhibits, visitors will discover rescue efforts and gain understanding about the innovative science involved in wildlife rescue. Visitors will also have the opportunity to experiment with techniques and tools used by rescuers, through hands?on exhibits and multimedia experiences – they’ll even “visit” an elephant orphanage and orangutan sanctuary.

“We are thrilled to bring Wildlife Rescue to Edmonton,” says Frank Florian, Vice President of Programs for TELUS World of Science – Edmonton.  “Wildlife Rescue empowers you to recognize how everyday actions can have an impact on your own ‘backyard’ and fosters a respect for nature and an understanding of the responsibility that rests with all of us.”

This feature exhibition will be open daily from May 17 through to September 1, 2014, and is included as part of a General Admission ticket. Members of the TELUS World of Science – Edmonton receive free General Admission to the science centre. Public General Admission rates are $16.95 for adults, $14.95 for youth, students and seniors, and $12.95 for children ages 3?12.
