Delivers a World-class Cultural Experience and Creates Meaningful Employment and Self Reliance
Morley, AB: The Chiniki Cultural Centre and Stones Restaurant were envisioned by Chief Aaron Young and Wayne Chiu of the Chiniki Trico Partnership as a means to create sustainable, holistic change and self-reliance for the people of the Chiniki Nation. This unique cultural destination allows the Chiniki people to share an authentic First Nations experience unlike any other. The Centre honours the Chiniki history and culture through sharing food, art, music, traditions, activities and storytelling.
The Chiniki Cultural Centre is located in the scenic foothills of Alberta, 30 minutes outside of Calgary along the Trans Canada Highway at Morley Road (Exit 131). Visitors can choose an indoor experience at Stones Restaurant, the Gallery Shop, and Cultural Exhibition area or participate in special programming and activities in an authentic Tipi Encampment.
Wayne Chiu of Chiniki Trico shares, “The vision is holistic in nature with the ultimate goal of the Nation creating successful businesses, aligned with their values, that ultimately lead to self-reliance.” “This Cultural Centre is creating meaningful employment for the Chiniki people while helping build strong community connections and pride amongst the entire Nation” says Chief Aaron Young. “The Cultural Centre is special because it provides an interactive and authentic experience that will attract visitors from all over the world.”
The Chiniki Cultural Centre provides an elevated experience where visitors can be fully immersed in the Chiniki Culture.
