Celebrate the Magic of Christmas Past at Heritage Park

November 07, 2013
by Heritage Park Historical Village

Experience the wonder and charm of an old-fashioned Christmas at Once Upon A Christmas, returning to Heritage Park Historical Village Saturdays and Sundays, November 23 until December 22, 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.

This time-honoured tradition is the perfect way to get into the true spirit of the holidays!
Start your day with our delicious Christmas Breakfast Buffet, served each day of the event in the Wainwright Hotel and Gunn’s Dairy Barn.  Tickets for the buffet are going fast, and must be pre-purchased by calling 403-268-8500.

Take a festive horse-drawn wagon ride around the village, visit three historical homes, each decorated to represent different holiday traditions from 100 years ago and sing Christmas carols in the cozy warmth of the church.  Roving carolers will warm your spirits while hot chocolate by a crackling fire will warm you to your toes.  Enjoy Christmas model train displays, decorate gingerbread men and enjoy free skating on the all-weather rink.  Pick up one-of-a-kind gifts on Main Street and in the Haskayne Mercantile Block.  Children can make holiday crafts and play old-fashioned outdoor winter games such as Fox and Geese, Three Deep and snow soccer.  They can shop for Mom and Dad in our Kids Only Store with the help of a volunteer, and visit with Santa and his Christmas Farm Critters!

For the first time, guests can contribute to a colourful, community mural in the snow that will line the promenade, providing a festive welcome to all.  Fresh snow may cover up the artwork, but also provide a fresh canvas for the next weekend’s guests.

Admission for Once Upon A Christmas at Heritage Park is included with an Annual Pass or $8 + GST for Adults, $6 + GST for children ages 3 to 17 and free for children 2 and under.  Tickets are available at the front gate. Fifty percent off coupons are available at Canada Safeway and First Calgary Financial locations in Calgary.
