Celebrate #LoveYYC Day this Saturday with special offers and initiatives

Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2016 – This Saturday, Nov. 5 will mark #LoveYYC Day with more than 50 local businesses and organizations offering special deals to engage Calgarians by encouraging them to explore our city.
"LoveYYC Day is a wonderful demonstration of the heart and energy of our amazing city," says Mayor Naheed Nenshi. "There are so many ways to join in and show how much we love Calgary, and I encourage all Calgarians to do just that on November 5."
Special offers include: 2-for-1 ticket sales for 2017 Calgary Stampede Evening Shows, Big Rock Brewery quenching thirsts with free tastings, tours and gifts, The City of Calgary offering free skating during all public skate times, the Chocolate Lab sweetening the day with free chocolate truffles, Yoga in Bowness offering free yoga classes, and Heritage Park offering free admission to Gasoline Alley. The list of businesses and organizations involved is long (and growing).
#LoveYYC Day is the culmination of a partnership between Tourism Calgary and Calgary Economic Development that has encouraged Calgarians to share their thoughts and experiences about why they love our city. All #LoveYYC Day offers are listed here: http://www.visitcalgary.com/loveyyc#offers

The focus of the #LoveYYC initiative has been to highlight the passion and pride that resides within Calgary, with the objective of inspiring Calgarians to become advocates for their city, engage in their community, and to spend locally. The campaign launched Oct. 11 with a series of three videos focused on the many hands that contribute to our city’s success. Since the launch, an average of 142 tweets have been shared each day, sharing love for our great city.

Many heart-warming stories of businesses and organizations who are stepping forward to participate in #LoveYYC Day have emerged, including:

Dimension Dentistry will open to pre-selected low income families in need of dental care. “Calgary has experienced a recent economic downturn and we have seen a lot of families struggle as a result,” says Dr. Brent Fairbanks. “We would like to do our part to help those in need by providing some much needed dental services. We encourage other health care professionals to do the same.”
Local Laundry Apparel (locallaundryapparel.com) will be donating 50% of their proceeds to a charity selected by Calgarians. A charity will be selected through an Instagram contest where Calgarians can enter to win a free crewneck t-shift by tagging their favourite local charity.
