Canadian bloggers Lindsay Anderson (Tourism Richmond’s 365 Days of Dining blogger
) and Dana VanVeller of FEAST: An Edible Road Trip
are finalists in Saveur magazine’s Best Food Blog Awards
, a competition that narrows over 30,000 international nominees down to just 78. Anderson and VanVeller’s blog was chosen as one of six
finalists in the “Best Culinary Travel Blog” category. While the finalists were hand-picked by Saveur’s editors, the ultimate category winners are selected by vote, so they’re asking readers to help put them – and the Canadian food scene - on the international stage.
Their project, which they began last June, saw them cover almost 38,000 km of the country, mainly by car. They visited all ten provinces and three territories over five months, with a goal of sharing stories about Canadian food and culture. Those experiences included standing within a herd of bison near Edmonton
, sharing lunch with Alberta food entrepreneur Kevin Kossowan
, and learning about mead production at Chinook Honey Company
outside of Calgary. To date, they’ve published over 160 distinctly Canadian stories on www.edibleroadtrip.com
, and they’re not done yet; now back in Vancouver, they’re finishing up the final leg of writing, which includes tales from Newfoundland, Churchill, and Nunavut.
