Residents of Kensington and all over Calgary should prepare themselves for the “modern” steak experience. Former proprietor of Escoba Bistro and Muse Restaurant, Stephen Deere has announced the opening of a new, unique restaurant, Modern Steak
. Scheduled to open its doors October, 2014, and is located at 107, 10A Street NW. Modern Steak will be open for lunch, dinner and late night.
Modern Steak is not, by any means, your traditional dark wood and leather steakhouse.
Modern Steak joins two concepts into one - the modern steakhouse and cocktail lounge. Modern is situated in a stunning space. Two dining rooms are connected by an open floor to ceiling 40ft atrium. The upper level is pure dining in the most “modern” sense. The lower level is an upbeat lounge that connects into a vibrant private dining room. Each table is beautifully illuminated, stunning décor captures the eyes and hand-selected music creates a cozy yet energetic vibe throughout the restaurant.
At Modern Steak we believe in supporting local ranchers; our steak menu consists entirely of local, Alberta Beef. Our steak menu will offer multiple sizes of each beef cut, and we will have multiple quality vegetarian options. We support local farmers and artisan cheese makers from Alberta and Western Canada. Modern is all too serious about the bar (we love Bourbon). Libations include a great selection of hand crafted cocktails and martinis, as well carefully selected wine by the glass.
To complete the visionary team, Modern Steak's kitchen will be run under the full attention, knowledge and talent of Executive Chef, Kurt Warner formerly of the Bow Valley Club. He brings with him many years of experience, innovation and creativity to help achieve the best “modern” steak experience.
